In this 2 hour brush pen calligraphy x watercolors workshop, you will learn
(1) How to hold and use a brush pen properly.
Most beginners struggle not because they lack talent, but because no one showed them the mechanics.
You'll learn exactly how to hold your pen, how much pressure to apply, and how to let the brush do the work instead of fighting it.
(You'll just need a Pentel Brush Sign Pen — costs around SGD $2.)
(2) The foundational strokes behind every beautiful letter.
Before letters, there are strokes- thin ones, thick ones, and the gentle transitions between them.
Once you understand these, the whole craft begins to make sense. These are the building blocks you'll return to again and again.
(3) Create calligraphy and watercolor cards
Have the hands-on experience of creating easy calligraphy cards with watercolor wash.
And be introduced to basic watercolor techniques that you can immediately apply on the watercolor cards.

I'm just starting out with calligraphy. Where should I begin? Is this workshop for beginners?
Absolutely, we all start somewhere! The best starting point is to JUST START! Gather your basic supplies: Pentel Brush Sign Pen, any watercolor palette, print out the materials on watercolour paper and watch through the digital video course. The Sundays Dawn guide sheets provided are designed to help you write in calligraphy! Through the digital course, you will be guided to start with simple strokes and basic drills to get a feel for your brush pen and its flexibility! And that is the beginning of something beautiful!
How can I develop my own unique calligraphy style?
Your style is like a fingerprint, completely unique to you. The best way to develop it is through experimentation. This workshop guides you through the letterforms of calligraphy and with that as a basis, you can work toward trying different strokes, add your own flourishes, and don't be afraid to put your personality into your work. Your style will evolve as you gain more experience. It's a beautiful journey.
I'm feeling frustrated. I have tried learning calligraphy BUT my work doesn't look as good as I want it to. What should I do?
Oh, frustration is a familiar feeling for anyone learning calligraphy. The most important thing is not to give up. Be kind to yourself and remember that every stroke and every practice session brings improvement. It's about the process, not perfection.
